Petraglia, who won his eighth career Senior Tour title, also ended a three-year drought without a win by defeating reigning Senior Player of the Year Ron Mohr (r.) of Eagle River, Alaska, 220-204, in the title match.

Wisconsin's Lennie Boresch Jr. retains lead in PBA Senior Dayton Classic

Boresch completed qualifying with a 3,869 (241.81 average) 16-game pinfall total to top the 32 players who advanced to Thursday's match play. Boresch holds a 16-pin lead over Sammy Ventura (r.) of Syracuse, N.Y.,  in second with 3,853.

PBA Commissioner Tom Clark also announced that Australia's Jason Belmonte, Mike Fagan of Dallas and Sean Rash of Montgomery, Ill., are the finalists for the 2011-12 Chris Schenkel PBA Player of the Year award.

201112PBALogo_small.jpgThe 13th annual Luci Bonneau Memorial Striking Against Breast Cancer Mixed Doubles Tournament, the nation's most popular combination of high-level competitive bowling and fund-raising, returns to Palace Lanes in Houston, Texas, July 21-22, where it will receive PBA Regional title status and live online coverage on Xtra Frame for the first time in 2012. The tournament, founded by Donna Conners, honors her long-time friend and fellow PWBA competitor who lost her life to breast cancer.

Lennie Boresch Jr. averages 250 to take first round lead in PBA Senior Dayton Classic

201011PBALennieBoresch_small.jpgAfter two tournaments Lennie Boresch Jr. of Kenosha, Wis., has already experienced the highs and lows of competing on the PBA Senior Tour. He won the opening tournament of the season in his Senior Tour debut but could only manage a 46th-place finish in the next tournament he entered. But the 50-year-old pro shop owner and recent inductee into the USBC Hall of Fame was able to get back on track Tuesday by averaging 250.5 to take the first round lead in the PBA Senior Dayton Classic presented by Roto Grip at Capri Lanes.

"PBA24" Membership Program helps jump start Rob Gotterbarn's PBA career

2012PBAEastRobGotterbarn_small.jpgRob Gotterbarn (left) first experienced PBA-level competition as a 19-year-old amateur when he bowled his first PBA East Region tournament in 2010. The Garden City South, N.Y., resident finished 39th, out of the money. He tried again in 2011, when he improved to 37th – still short of the cash line, but closer. Then the former St. John's University collegiate bowler tried the 2012 U.S. Open, finishing in a tie for 80th place and picking up his first PBA check – for $1,145. It was a turning point.

2012 PBA Regional Players Championship-East moves to Columbus, Ohio

"Elite" berth in 2013 PBA Tournament of Champions at stake in Memorial Day weekend event

201112PBALogo_small.jpgThe Professional Bowlers Association's annual Regional Players Championship-East is set for Memorial Day weekend at Columbus Western Bowl in Columbus, Ohio, where the winner will earn an "Elite" berth in the 2013 PBA Tournament of Champions. The Regional Players Championship-East, which is open to all PBA members except for those who finished among the top 32 in competition points during the 2011-12 PBA Tour season, will also pay a $6,000 first prize based upon a capacity field of 200 players.

Webb heads a field of 32 players who advanced to Wednesday's match play rounds.

Bowling in his first Senior Tour event of the season, Webb bowled a 2,007 pinfall total with games of 196, 278, 238, 255, 249, 299, 204 and 288. He holds a 36-pin lead over one-time Senior Tour titlist Mike Henry of Brunswick, Ohio in second with 1,971. Five-time PBA Tour winner Bob Learn Jr. of Erie, Pa., is in third with 1,931.

Tim Kauble takes first round lead in PBA Senior Don Carter Memorial Open

Tim Kauble (pictured left) of Marion, Ohio, averaged 235.6 to take the first round lead in the PBA Senior Don Carter Memorial Open presented by Ebonite Sunday at Carter Family Bowl. Kauble, trying for his second Senior Tour title, had a 1,414 six-game pinfall total and an average of 235.67. Right behind Kauble are PBA Hall of Famers Dale Eagle of Tavares, Fla., in second with 1,402, and Walter Ray Williams Jr. of Ocala, Fla., in third with 1,393. Qualifying continues Monday and Tuesday after which the 106-player field will be cut to the top 32.

Walter Ray Williams Jr. wins 32nd PBA Regional title

2012EBT04WalterRayWilliams2_small.jpgPBA Hall of Famer Walter Ray Williams Jr. (pictured) of Ocala, Fla., boosted his amazing PBA title total to 81 overall when he defeated reigning PBA Senior Player of the Year Ron Mohr of Eagle River, Alaska, by 116 pins on April 19 to win the PBA South Region Don Carter Signature Series Tampa Senior Open at AMF University Lanes. The win in Tampa was Williams' 32nd in regional competition to go along with his all-time record 47 PBA Tour titles and two PBA Senior Tour victories.

2011PBASRonMohr_small.jpgWith the help of a 300 game, reigning PBA Senior Player of the Year Ron Mohr (pictured) of Eagle River, Alaska, moved into the second-round lead in the PBA Senior Sun Bowl in The Villages presented by Storm Monday at Spanish Springs Lanes. Mohr bowled games of 244, 233, 300, 233, 217, 183, 216 and 223 to bring his pinfall total for 16 games to 3,894 (243.3 average). The 157-player was cut to the top 32 who advanced to match play Tuesday morning. By qualifying in the top eight, Mohr earned two byes.
